About The Symphony in the Flint Hills Field Journal
Symphony in the Flint Hills, Inc. works to heighten appreciation and knowledge of the tallgrass prairie, an ecosystem that once covered 170 million acres of North America. Through year-round programming, we celebrate the history, ecology, and culture of the Kansas Flint Hills.
Each June 7,000 kindred spirits gather for our Signature Event, which includes heritage and culture presentations and a world-class symphonic concert in an unmatched prairie setting. Each September we collaborate with Camp Wood YMCA for our fall event, WoodFest. WoodFest is a music-based weekend with nationally known musicians, poets, and prairie enthusiasts.
Symphony in the Flint Hills’ Field Journals showcase the beauty of the Flint Hills through art and written word. Each volume is intended to tell stories based on the theme and location of the Signature Event. To order hard copies, go to shop.symphonyintheflinthills.org or visit our retail store at 331 Broadway, Cottonwood Falls, KS.
The Field Journals are made possible in part with funding from the Fred C. and Mary R. Koch Foundation.
